Introduction

Prof Sridar Krishnaswamy is Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Center for Quality Engineering and Failure Prevention. He received his PhD in Aeronautics with a minor in Materials Science from Caltech in Pasadena, California.

His research interests are multifunctional materials and systems and intelligent structural health management of safety-critical structures. He was the associate Editor for Journal of Applied Mechanics, ASME from 2005 to 2011. He has obtained significant recognitions such as VS Jain Memorial Award (ISNT 2011), Fellow of ASME, 2006, Best paper Award for "Acoustic Nonlinearity Measurements for Fatigue Damage Monitoring," SPIE 2005, Applied Optics 1996 paper selected in SPIE"s Milestone Series: "Holographic Interferometry", Optical Engineering 1993 paper selected in SPIE"s Milestone Series: "Speckle Interferometry", Ernest Sechler Memorial Award (1989) for most significant contribution to teaching and research from the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California.
