Shu-yi Zhang

Introduction

Professor Shu-yi Zhang, female, graduated from the Department of Physics of Nanjing University in 1956, and stayed in the school to teach after graduating as a graduate student in 1960.From 1985 to 1990, she was invited as a visiting associate professor and professor at Wayne State University, ESPCI Paris in France, and The University of Tokyo in Japan. In 1991, She was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (the current academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences). From 1992 to 2001, she was the director of the Institute of Acoustics of Nanjing University. She used to be the vice chairman of the Acoustical Society of China, the chairman of the Jiangsu Acoustical Society, and the vice chairman of the Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology. She is currently the deputy editor-in-chief of Chinese Journal of Acoustics and Applied Acoustics, editorial board member of Journal of Physics G, and Journal of Nanjing University (Natural Science Edition). She has been an international advisory committee member of the International Photoacoustic Photothermal Conference for a long time and a director of the International Federation of Nondestructive Evaluation Centers.

Professor Shu-yi Zhang has been engaged in ultrasonic and photoacoustic scientific research for a long time, involving fields including ultrasonics, photoacoustic photothermal, acoustoelectronic devices, acoustic metamaterials, and nondestructive testing, etc., and has achieved a series of international and domestic leading achievements, mainly including: At the end of the 1950s, the research on the "ultrasonic relaxation absorption of organic liquids", which was controversial in the molecular acoustics of the Soviet Union at that time, clarified the facts and ended the debate; In the late 1970s, a laser probe was established to detect solid sound fields; in 1980, a photoacoustic research team was established, which developed a variety of photoacoustic thermal wave equipment and achieved many achievements: the first photoacoustic microscope was developed, and phase adjustment was proposed to achieve layering Imaging, which is regarded as the best layered imaging in the world by international counterparts; since then, microscopic imaging systems such as photoelectric microscope, laser scanning confocal microscope, light modulation reflection probe, and electron acoustic thermal wave microscope have been developed; The layered imaging of solid materials and devices has been studied, some new phenomena have been discovered, and new theoretical explanations have been proposed. At the same time, the excitation of ultrasonic wave by pulsed laser in condensed matter and its relationship with the structure and parameters of matter are studied, and some problems in mechanism and testing are solved.

The scientific research team led by Professor Shu-yi Zhang has published more than 500 academic papers; She was invited to participate in the writing of 4 English monographs, which were published in the United States and Europe; won 12 national, provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards; hosted 4 international conferences, and edited international conferences there are 6 volumes of theses collections, which are published as special editions of Progress in Natural Science, Acta Physica Sinica, Series G of Chinese Science, and Journal of Nanjing University.

Professor Shu-yi Zhang is one of the founders of the Far East Nondestructive Testing New Technology Forum. In 2008, she proposed that inspection and testing institutions and universities jointly organize forums and invite famous foreign scholars to participate in academic activities. It has been used until now; it has made great contributions to the creation, reform, development and innovation of the Far East NDT new technology & Application Forum.
